On-premise resource planning software helps engineering and industrial teams plan shared specialists and equipment while keeping the planning data on infrastructure they control. Rillsoft Project is the Windows desktop application for this work. Use local project files to start, or add Rillsoft Integration Server for a shared database on your own infrastructure.

Which planning problem does it solve?
When projects compete for the same people, a task owner and a due date do not establish that the work can be delivered. Rillsoft Project lets you plan required roles, compare demand with available capacity and assign suitable employees. A portfolio brings the included projects into a shared planning view. The scope of the open plan matters: unopened projects cannot be treated as checked capacity commitments.
This page is for resource managers who already know they need control of their deployment. The broader resource planning overview explains the planning functions independently of the operating model.
What does a capacity decision look like?
Consider a synthetic planning example: two projects need 24 hours each from a specialist with 40 available hours next week. Demand totals 48 hours, leaving an eight-hour shortfall. Keeping the database on premises does not remove that gap. The planner must examine rescheduling, another qualified person or an agreed scope change, then check the result against calendars and dependencies.
Start your trial with two projects sharing a resource pool. Compare their role demand and availability before assigning people. Capacity planning explains this assessment; resource planning versus task management explains why ownership and capacity answer different questions.
Which local deployment option fits?
| Requirement | Local project files | Your own Integration Server |
|---|---|---|
| Initial evaluation | Windows desktop application and sample plans | arrange the server environment when evaluating shared operation |
| Data ownership | choose and maintain the file location | maintain a central database in your infrastructure |
| Collaboration | organise file handovers and versions | shared data and multi-user operation |
| Operating responsibility | client, file access and backups | also server, database, updates, permissions and backups |
Rillsoft Integration Server supports the operating model; the planning product remains Rillsoft Project. Review the server requirements and documentation with your IT team before choosing an environment. A desktop installation, a server and an AI client serve different roles and should be assessed separately.
What should you prepare before rollout?
- A maintained resource pool, working calendars and role definitions.
- The projects whose shared demand must be assessed together.
- Suitable Windows workstations and, for central operation, the documented server/database environment.
- Named responsibility for updates, backups, access permissions and recovery.
- Confirmation of the license capabilities needed by your planners and any connected workflows. Server operation also requires the appropriate server/interface license; a desktop edition alone does not establish access. Use the current pricing information and a concrete proposal; this page does not assume an edition or price.
Can you choose hosted operation instead?
Yes. Rillsoft Cloud provides the hosted operating option when you want a shared data basis without operating your own server. Project planning still takes place in Rillsoft Project. Compare operating responsibilities and requirements; cloud hosting is not a separate scheduling engine.
Does on-premise planning make AI processing local?
No blanket assumption is appropriate. The local MCP server runs inside Rillsoft Project 10 and binds to 127.0.0.1. A connected AI client may send planning data to its provider. Review that client’s settings and terms before using sensitive data. The local MCP server is not a hosted Rillsoft endpoint and does not require Rillsoft Cloud.
